A 16-year-old girl from Manchester has been been arrested on suspicion of preparing acts of terrorism.
The teenager was detained after counter-terrorism police raided a house in the Longsight area of the city at about 8pm on Friday and has been bailed until 28 May, a spokesman for Greater Manchester police said.
Police suspect the girl of “engaging in conduct in preparation for acts of terrorism”.
An eyewitness to the raid said the street was “full of terrorist police” at the time of the girl’s arrest.
The arrest is not believed to be related to the nine people from Rochdale, detained near the border between Turkey and Syria on Wednesday.
